SYTRUS

[ Kind ]

“Imagine an object by experimenting with 700 cardboard straws”

[ Description ]

By combining aesthetics and technique, Sytrus demonstrates how a "noble" material interferes in the creative and aesthetic aspect of the object, becoming the master of manufacturing. It is proof that a simple and accessible material can become both a plastic object and a functional object by reasoning with the material and letting it reveal itself. The assembly of straws by weaving draws a curtain that is defined by its dynamic aesthetic dimension through a play of light that is manifested by an interaction between full and empty. Technically, the weaving of circles is an exploration of geometry, symmetry and repetition. Each woven circle creates a series of interconnected patterns linked to a vertical axis reinforcing the structure while creating a visual separation in direct dialogue with the weaving. The attachment to the rod allows to keep this illusion of a shower of thread, and for what it is about maintaining the modules on the axis, metal beads at the ends play the role of stopper.
